While there have been other excellent implementations of the system I aimed to use rope dynamics for this project. The shapes from Hofmann's original system always reminded me of rope being wrapped around poles, which directly inspired this direction.
The underlying system is done in p5js with custom rope dynamics, p5.js-svg is used to export the resulting shapes. The Code will be on github once I get it all cleaned up. If you have any feedback or major problems feel free to contact me
